Respite Care Meal

Prepare and deliver meals that support families caring for loved ones with special needs or disabilities.

Respite Care Charleston is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support to those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. By using several locations throughout the area it allows caretakers to take a break from caring for their loved ones.

Holy Spirit has committed to providing two meals a month on every other Thursday to their meeting location at St. Johns Parish Church.

A volunteer would choose one of the available dates, make a meal for 12 people and deliver it to St. Johns Parish Church at 3673 Maybank Hwy, Johns Island, SC between 9:30-11:00 am.  (Please note the delivery is NOT made to Holy Spirit).

The meal is to consist of a protein, vegetable (can be included in a casserole entree dish or on the side) and a dessert.  Food that is easy to serve and that does not need to be cut up by the client is preferred. It does not need to be in individual servings and Respite Care has the plates, and cutlery.  It is suggested you use throw away containers for the food you deliver as you will be dropping the food off. The staff and volunteers at St. Johns have a full kitchen and take care of reheating food, if necessary, and serving it.

This is just a one time/one date commitment for any volunteers.
