Cemetery & Columbarium

A sacred resting place within the Holy Spirit parish.

The Catholic Church has always treated the burial of the dead as a work of mercy. From the earliest centuries, Christians have cared for the bodies of the faithful with reverence, in the sure hope of resurrection.

Holy Spirit Cemetery and Columbarium offer our parish community a place to rest in consecrated ground — cared for, prayed over, and held in the communion of this parish family.

YOUR OPTIONS

Cemetery & Columbarium

Holy Spirit offers two options for the interment of remains, both located on our parish grounds at 3871 Betsy Kerrison Parkway.

Cemetery

Traditional in-ground burial is available to Catholics entitled to Christian burial under the guidelines of the Roman Catholic Church and the Diocese of Charleston. The grounds are maintained with perpetual care and are open dawn to dusk every day of the year.

Columbarium & Urn Garden

For those who choose cremation, we offer columbarium niches and an urn garden — intimate, well-kept spaces for cremated remains. Small floral arrangements are welcome at niches for birthdays, anniversaries, and holy seasons.

Both options provide the same assurance: your loved one rests in a sacred place, within this community, for generations to come.

PLAN AHEAD

Consider Planning Before You Need To

Planning your burial — or that of a loved one — is one of the most practical and loving things you can do for your family. It removes the burden of difficult decisions from a moment of grief and gives you the opportunity to make your wishes known.

We welcome conversations about cemetery and columbarium options at any stage of life. There is no pressure and no obligation. Our team will answer your questions and help you understand what's available.

Holy Spirit Cemetery is governed by the Diocese of Charleston's guidelines. These standards preserve the sacred, distinctly Catholic character of the grounds.

Our team is happy to walk you through what's permitted for monuments, memorials, and graveside remembrances. A full copy of the Cemetery Handbook is available at the Parish Office or as a download below.
