What is OCIA?

OCIA — The Order of Christian Initiations for Adults is a chance to allow God to speak to you personally, to encounter his love and to discover the Catholic Church.​

The fruit of OCIA is you having a more personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.

​

OCIA is a welcoming, unhurried journey through scripture, tradition, and the sacraments — accompanied by a community of people who have asked the same questions you are asking, and who have found something beautiful on the other side.

IS OCIA FOR ME?

OCIA Is For You If...

  • You have never been baptized and are drawn to the Christian faith

  • You were baptized in another Christian tradition and feel called to become Catholic

  • You were baptized Catholic but never completed your sacraments (Confirmation, First Communion)

  • You have been away from the Church and want to rediscover Catholicism

  • You are interested in learning more about the Catholic Church and you simply want to grow in faith

What the Journey Looks Like

  1. Complete the Interest Form
    We want to connect with you! Fill out the interest form and someone from our OCIA team will reach out to introduce themselves
     

  2. Take the Inventory
    The inventory helps the OCIA team prepare to answer your questions and spend time with you.
     

  3. Have a One-on-One Conversation with Deacon RJ Dourney
    A relaxed conversation to ask questions and get a feel for the process. 
     

  4. Begin the OCIA Process

    When you choose to continue, you will join the group, meeting on Monday nights at 6pm — exploring scripture, Catholic teaching, and the sacraments. Questions are always welcome.
     

  5. Discern and Decide

    OCIA is a journey of discernment. You are always free to slow down, step back, or simply continue learning without making any commitments.
     

  6. Receive the Sacraments

    Those who choose to enter fully into the Church typically receive Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist at the Easter Vigil or around November 1.
