Lector

The Lector proclaims the Word of God during Mass and other liturgical celebrations. This ministry serves the parish by helping the faithful hear and reflect on Sacred Scripture with clarity, reverence, and understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proclaim the First and Second Readings at Mass (and, when appropriate, the Responsorial Psalm)

• Read the Prayers of the Faithful, when assigned

• Prepare in advance by reviewing and practicing assigned readings

• Arrive early to check in and ensure readiness

• Maintain a prayerful and respectful presence in the liturgy

• Follow parish guidelines for liturgical ministry

Qualifications:

• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church

• Comfortable speaking clearly in front of a congregation

• Ability to read with clarity, pace, and expression

• Familiarity with Scripture (or willingness to prepare and learn)

• Dependable and punctual
